  1. The answer addresses the setting of custom colours, but doesn't actually answer how to change the selected tab to a different colour. I have seen it on other guides so know it is possible. Any suggestions?

  2. Hi Me-Linh -
The tabs in LibGuides (whether selected or unselected) are rendered using images. If you want to change the color of either of those options, you'll need to create custom tab images (and if you're only changing the selected tab, you'll only need to edit half of the image). Check out the help guide we mentioned ( to download the image files.
Alternately, if you're not comfortable editing the images yourself, we're certainly happy to help! Email us at and let us know what you're looking for.
    Thanks! -Sarah

  3. Do you plan on having the colour of the tabs be customizable in the "admin stuff" area instead of us all trying to change the code?
by Carolyne on Apr 09, 2013.
  4. Hi Carolyne - Guide tabs will be fully customizable using CSS in the LibGuides/LibGuides CMS redesign. You won't have to create your own tab images anymore! We don't have a firm date for the redesign but we are aiming for after ALA Annual this summer. - Ken

  6. Hi, Janet,
It's not possible to change the color of the active tab. :(

  7. Is it possible to change the color for just one tab? I'd like to draw attention to a new page.

  8. Hi Shay,

The answer to that one is no, I'm afraid.
