Q

How do I add an image from Picasa to my guide?

I tried adding the image URL it gave me in the Link section, but I get a red x icon instead of my image!

Ah, yes...Picasa likes to be a little tricky, but there is a way to get the link to your image! :)

The link they provide in the Link box is actually the link to the page in your Picasa account, not the image itself. That's why it's not working in your guides. *sigh*

Image linking options in PicasaThey have another option just below the link, though: Embed image.

The embed code there is actually a table with the image in it along with a link back to your Picasa account, not just the link for the image. So, you have two choices:

  • Copy the embed code as is and add it to your guide using the Plain Text Editor, or
  • Check off the Image only (no link) checkbox just below the embed code and grab just the link for the image.

Get Just the Link

  • Click the Link to this Photo link in the right hand column.
  • Under Embed image:
    • choose the size you want your image to be
    • check off Image only (no link)
  • Copy the link in the Embed image box.
  • Go to your guide and follow the instructions for Method 2 on the How do I upload images? FAQ.

Embed the Image & a Link Back to Your Picasa Album

  • Click the Link to this Photo link in the right hand column.
  • Under Embed image, choose the size you want your image to be
  • Plain Text Editor tabCopy the code in the Embed image box.
  • Go to your guide and create a Rich Text box
    (if one doesn't already exist).
  • Click add (or edit) text
  • Click the Plain Text Editor tab at the top of the box.
  • Paste the code from Picasa.
  • Click Save & Close.
