How do I reorder content on a profile page?

I couldn't find information in the documentation about how an admin can allow authors to add content to their profile pages in different columns. The default is in the right column, but some authors would like to add content in the center above or below the "subject guides" box

The profile page is not one that can be reordered...except the Badges box. You can put that in any column you choose. ;)

Otherwise, the standard profile box is on the left, the list of your published guides in the center, and any other info you want to add on the right.

That doesn't mean you're stuck though! You can create a guide to use as your profile page. Then you can put boxes/information wherever you want and add any box types you want. You can even keep the list of guides you've created on the page by adding a widget. :)

Once you've created your page, you can make that your default profile page:

Profile page - top section

  • Click Edit My Account, then click the Customize Profile Page tab.
  • In the top section, you'll see 3 lines: Page URL, Profile Guide URL, and Visibility.
Click the edit link for Profile Guide URL.
  • Enter the URL of your guide.
  • Click Save.

Now whenever anyone clicks on the Profile & Guides link on a guide, they'll go straight to your profile guide!

  1. That is quite an extensive work-around. I would think that the profile page would automatically have some functionality for providing background information about oneself in the center. That's the intuitive way things should work. Profile=brief information about a person.

I've taken the liberty of adding this comment to our feature tracking system with your contact information. We will be sure to let you know if/when the profile pages change.

If there is anything specific we can help you with, on the profile page. Just let us know.
