I am trying to load LibGuides behind a secure server such as a portal site or learning management system but there is a security certificate message!

Here's why!

Many sites now require content to be loaded over https, which means that data is transmitted to and from the server in an encrypted manner.

It's not possible to load LibGuides / LibGuides CMS v.1 over HTTPS, but there is support available in LibGuides / LibGuides CMS v.2:

  • Any sites on a libguides.com domain can be loaded over HTTPS.
  • Widgets and API calls can be loaded over HTTPS. (Note: API calls are only available to LibGuides CMS customers in v.2.)
  • LibGuides CMS subscribers can take advantage of the LTI tool if embedding in a learning management system. (Check out our support guide for information on setting up the LTI.)

We do not currently provide HTTPS support for custom domains (except as indicated above), but we are working on this!
