Viewing your Mobile Site in Browser: Directions

2. Type: http://YourSiteURL.com/mobile.php

Voila! You can now emulate your mobile site in-browser.

Grabbing DIV Classes For Your Mobile Site

1. Use Google Chrome: Delivers an accurate display of your mobile site

2. Type: http://YourSiteURL.com/mobile.php

3. Find the area or element that you want to customize

4. Right click > Select Inspect Element

5. A window will appear, at the bottom of the screen, displaying the HTML/CSS of that page/element

6. Roll your mouse over the classes/IDs to find the one you want

TIP: As you roll your mouse over the classes/IDs, that element will be highlighted on the page. This helps to make sure you are selecting the right element!

  1. I use Safari "Developer" toolbar to preview the site as a mobile interface. You can enable the "Developer" toolbar by following these directions http://developer.apple.com/library/safari/#documentation/appleapplications/Conceptual/Safari_Developer_Guide/2SafariDeveloperTools/SafariDeveloperTools.html, then change the browser's user agent to iPhone under the Developer menu item.

  2. Hello,
I just followed your steps in http://guidefaq.com/a.php?qid=42646 to preview the mobile version of a libguide would look like on my desktop.

The result was the regular desk top version. Has something changed? Is there another way to do this?

    Here's hoping.

  3. Hi, Jane!
    Yes, this still works. :)

Any chance that you clicked the "Full Site" link at the bottom of the mobile page? Clicking that link sets a cookie for two hours that will route to the full site (desktop version) rather than to the mobile site. So, sit tight (or clear your cookies) and the mobile version will be back soon.

    Best,
