Can I import a list of Databases (A-Z) into LibGuides?
Yes! You can import a master list into LibGuides in one of two ways:
The A-Z database list functionality is enabled by default. You just need to be a LibGuides customer and a Serials Solutions customer (subscribing to any 360 or Summon services) and you can use this function.
See the A-Z Subscription Database List Management guide in the Help/Documentation site for more details about how to import your databases.
No problem - we can do a one-time manual import of your links! Here's what we'll need:
- A location to import the list to - send us the URL of the guide you'd like us to import to!
- The Excel template attached below, populated with your database links!
Email this info to us at email@example.com, and we'll create your A-Z list. Once your A-Z import is complete, you can edit your new guide just like any other guide in your system - see the List Management Guide for ideas!
Note: The A-Z import functionality is meant to make things easier for you, by making links on your master list reusable and easy to update universally. However, it's not meant to act as a comprehensive list of all the resources that you have available.
Not clear on what type of items are okay to include? Here are a few guidelines...
- Subscription databases
- Free resources that you & your team will link to over & over again - ex. Purdue OWL: MLA Formatting & Style Guide
- Online journals
- Resources without a link - ex. CD-ROM databases
Still not sure whether your list will pass the test? Drop us a line at firstname.lastname@example.org.
