Can I import a list of Databases (A-Z) into LibGuides?

Yes! You can import a master list into LibGuides in one of two ways:

  • Use Serials Solutions to manage your databases. Follow these instructions.

  • Don't have Serials Solutions?

Note: The A-Z import functionality is meant to make things easier for you, by making links on your master list reusable and easy to update universally. However, it's not meant to act as a comprehensive list of all the resources that you have available.

Not clear on what type of items are okay to include? Here are a few guidelines...

Not Okay:

  • Online journals
  • E-books
  • Resources without a link - ex. CD-ROM databases

  1. We are not Serials Solutions subscribers and I want to make the A-Z list. The last column of the libguides_import_template_-_links.xlsx file is Use Proxy? Should the values for this column be either True or False?

  2. Zinthia, from the support team here.
To add the proxy that is listed under Admin Stuff > System Settings > Link Options, the Proxy Field in the excel file should list "True".

  3. Thank you for this excel sheet. We want to import lists of printed materials from our library catalog into Links & Lists boxes in LibGuides. I couldn't quite tell from the thread above if this is possible. We would have the title, a brief description, and the permalink to the appropriate catalog record.

    Any advice is appreciated.

  4. Hi Amanda!
No, the intent of this file is only for populating it with your A-Z database list info so that we can upload it once to create your central A-Z guide. Take a look at this guide for more information -

Using this for other types of import is not currently possible.
