Guide FAQ - Your LibGuides v1 Questions. Answered!

Can you create linked boxes and/or pages that will automatically update with a master template?

Is it possible to copy a master template and automatically have all the boxes linked, so that when you update the content from a box on the master template, it updates the copied page's box as well?

Absolutely! To create an entire "linked page" on one of your guides, follow these steps:

  • Head to the guide where you'd like to add the linked page,
  • Head to the orange Command bar - select "Add/Edit Pages" --> "Add/Reuse Page"
  • In the popup screen that appears, select the tab to "Reuse Existing Page
  • Good to Know:
    • This creates a page where all the content is linked to a master page
    • Because it's fully linked, you won't be able to edit the page
    • Deleting the original page will also delete linked pages, so be careful!

  1. Can you link to a page with existing subpages without manually adding each page? Could this automatically update as you add more subpages?

  2. Hi, Carrie!
This is not possible yet, but you're not the first to ask! I'm adding your name to our tracking system, and you'll get an email should this feature be implemented.

  3. Is there a way to cut this link? I've used a previous site as a template but now I need to edit parts of some of the pages.

  4. The link can be "cut" by deleting the linked box and then recreating it making sure it's a copy (not a linked) box.
