Answer

While having banners for individual guides isn't possible with the basic LibGuides platform, it is available if you have LibGuides CMS. (Learn what makes LibGuides CMS awesome.)

If you've got LibGuides CMS, here's what to do:

  1. Open Firefox or Chrome - Internet Explorer makes step #4 difficult!
  2. This next step requires an admin-level account. You, or your admin, should create a group for any guides that will have their own banners. The Group Look & Feel settings should be set to Do not display a group banner.
  3. Head to Modules > Add-on Module and then click View my image library. Upload the banner image for your guide.
  4. Before you close that window, right-click on the image you've just uploaded. In Firefox, select Copy Image Location. In Chrome, pick Copy Image URL.
  5. Mosey on over to your guide! Make sure your guide is assigned to the group you created in step #2. Click Guide Settings > Change Guide Information, and choose your group from the drop-down menu.
  6. Click Guide Look & Feel > Custom JS/CSS Code and paste the URL you copied in step #4.
  7. Paste this code before your URL:

    <style>
    .topnav { padding: 0px; }
    #breadcrumbsr { padding: 3px 5px 5px 0px; }
    #breadcrumbsl { padding: 3px 0px 5px 5px; }
    .topnav:before { content: url(
  8. Paste this code after your URL:

    ); } </style>

    Your finished code should look something like this:

    <style>
    .topnav { padding: 0px; }
    #breadcrumbsr { padding: 3px 5px 5px 0px; }
    #breadcrumbsl { padding: 3px 0px 5px 5px; }
    .topnav:before { content: url(http://lgimages.s3.amazonaws.com/
       data/imagemanager/28291/mybanner.png); }
    </style>
  9. Click Save - that's it!

Note: This code may not work in older browsers.

    LibGuides v1 servers are also shutting down at that time.
