Can I create a sub-page and have it NOT show in a drop-down list under a tab?

I want to create a page that will provide support for another page, but not appear on its own in the drop-down.

Sure! You can include pages on a guide without having them appear as tabs / sub-pages by using the "hidden page" functionality.

Basically, you're going to create a top level page, hide it, then create sub-pages for that hidden top level page. The sub-pages will not be hidden, so you can link to them and have them display, but the public won't see them in the tabs because the top level page is hidden - it won't appear on the public side of the guide.

Here's what you do:

  1. Create a top level page in your guide to house the sub-pages you want to hide, but still link to - call it anything you want, just make sure you check off the box at the bottom that says: "Do not display this page on the public version of the guide...".
    Checkbox to hide a page
  2. Now create the sub-pages: make sure you change the Position to "--- Add under the top level page you just created".
    Setting the page position
  3. On a page that will be publicly available, link to these sub-pages.
Remember to remove the ae from the page link, so aecontent.php becomes content.php.

  1. Is there any way of doing this, linking to a page, without it being avaiable as a subpage?

  2. Hi Naomi - Can you clarify how you would like this to work in a way that is different from what is described in the FAQ? The instructions make it possible to have a link to a page without the page appearing as a sub-page to the public. So, while it is structurally a sub-page of a hidden main page, it will not appear that way to users. - Ken

  3. Unfortunately, pages created this way are not visible on the mobile version of the page.
