How do I delete a page / tab from my guide?

Deleting a page is easy! Just keep in mind, when you delete a page, THE ACTION IS IRREVERSIBLE - so make sure you really want to delete it, cause once it's gone, it's gone!

  • Before you do this, take a minute to think: is there any content (boxes or pages) anywhere on your LibGuides site that's linked to content on this page? No? OK, we're good to go.
  • Head to the Command Bar
  • Select "Add/Edit Pages" --> "Delete a Page"
  • In the popup window that appears, select the page (or sub-page) you want to delete from the drop-down menu, then click "Delete this Page" to really commit.

  1. OK, I'm still confused about this. I created a tab/page that is a link to another page on the site. After I did this, I realized that what I really wanted to do was to re-use an existing page. So, now, if I want to delete the first tab/page link that I made, how do I do it without deleting the actual page that it links to? Essentially, all I want to do is to replace the first tab/page with a tab that is a re-used page. Help!

  2. Hi Mark - If you create a page on guide A and add the URL of another page on Guide B (so the tab links out to that other page), you can delete the page on Guide A without anything happening to the original page on Guide B. Then you can go to Add/Edit Pages > Reuse Existing Page on Guide A, and choose the guide/page you want to reuse from Guide B. If you ever decide to delete that page on Guide A, it still will do nothing to the original on Guide B. If you ever decide to delete the page from Guide B, it will also be deleted from Guide A. I hope that wasn't overly confusing, though I know it was. If you have any questions about this, please feel free to email me: anna at springshare dot com.

  3. Is there a way to delete more than one page at once? We often create new guides from a template, but it's frustrating to have to delete the unwanted tabs one by one (or alternatively, to not reuse the entire guide and to have to reuse a ton of pages from the template one by one).

  4. No, you can't delete multiple pages at once.
    But what about creating a guide from scratch and then coping/reusing the pages needed from the template?

  5. Hi there,
    building on Mark's query... if I'm wanting to delete a linked page where the original is elsewhere... will I be deleting the link only? Or will it also delete the original page I'm pulling the data from?
    My situation:
    - added a drop-down list item which I meant to add as a URL to link to elsewhere in my guide... however, I obviously made a mistake and it pulls the content from my other page instead.
    - I want to delete what I've done and change it to link out to the other libguide page directly.

  6. Hi Gill,

    That will only be deleting the link, not the page.
