Note: You must be an Admin in your system to do this.

  1. Go to Guides > All Guides Index.

  2. Use the filters at the top to locate the guide you need to reassign.
  3. Then click the second icon in the actions column - Change Guide Owner.
  4. Choose the new owner from the dropdown.
  5. Click Save.

  1. These instructions were helpful. In addition, I would like to know how to delete names from the drop down list of possible guide owners. We have teachers listed that are no longer in the district. How do I update this?

  2. Hi, Kay!
To delete accounts, go to ADMIN STUFF > Accounts and click the red X next to any account that is no longer needed.

If any guides happen to be assigned to an account that needs to be deleted, you will be asked to do that.

Let us know if you have other questions, and thanks for your comment!

  3. Is it possible to change guide owners in batches? I am a recent admin for my school's guides and I need to transfer ownership of 50+ guides from the person I replaced to me.

    Thank you!

  4. Hi Mark,
If you need to do a mass-reassignment but do not want to delete the other person's account in your system, we would need to do this for you. Just let us know the user ID of the old owner and the new owner. You can see the User IDs in the first column of the ADMIN STUFF > ACCOUNTS list.

As explained above, though, you can also do this via account deletion.
There are a couple of options, which hold true for all Springy systems:

IF YOU DO NOT CURRENTLY HAVE AN ACCOUNT ALREADY IN YOUR SYSTEM(S):
    1. Log in as the old admin with their email and password, and then head to EDIT MY PROFILE to change the values to your email, name, and password.
    2. Then go to ADMIN STUFF > SYSTEM SETTINGS and change the System Admin email field so that it is your address instead of theirs.

IF THE OLD PERSON LEFT, YOU HAVE AN ACCOUNT ALREADY WITH GUIDES PUBLISHED, AND JUST PREFER TO DELETE THEIR ACCOUNT (EASIER OPTION):
    1. Go to ADMIN STUFF > MANAGE ACCOUNTS and delete that person's account. The system will prompt you to reassign your guides to another user (otherwise it's not going to delete their account).
    3. Then go to ADMIN STUFF > SYSTEM SETTINGS and change the System Admin email field so that it is your address instead of theirs, if you haven't already done so..

    I hope this helps!

  5. It would be very useful if an owner could choose to reassign some of his/her rights as an author to another. Specifically, I am a co-owner of a Guide. The first named co-owner, who titled the Guide, would prefer that one of the other co-owners be the "primary" owner - the one Springshare contacts. Having to go through a librarian who is the admin. is very inconvenient.

  6. Thanks for the suggestion, Patricia!
