How do I delete a guide from the system?

Note: You can only delete guides for which you are the owner.

Admins: Can delete any Guide in the system

  • Login to your LibGuides or LibGuides CMS system
  • Select Guides from Command Bar > 
    • View/Edit My Guides: If you want to delete one of your guides
    • All Guides Index: To delete someone else's guide (Admins-Only)
  • Filter/Search for the guide
  • In the Actions column > select the red X
  • In the pop-up, select Ok to confirm deletion

  1. Before I delete a guide, is there a way for me to determine if any other LibGuides link to that guide?

  2. Hi Chris,
    Currently there isn't a way to see if the guide is linked to, with LibGuides.
    But we can do a search for you, just send an email to ask for a report of all the guides that have X link in them.

  3. Is there a way to recover a guide that has been deleted? As an Admin I've just been telling people that they need to be careful, but with many people editing I'm sure accidents do happen.

  4. Hi Tiffany,
    We (support team) can recover a guide in HTML format for you, taken from the backup logs going as far back as the past 3 days.
    If the guide was deleted more than 3 days ago but less than 6 months, then our tech team would need to try retrieving an older version directly from the database backups.

    If you have the Add-on Module, you (as the admin) as well as all librarians in your system can make your own guide backups periodically, via the GUIDE BACKUP feature (#3 in this FAQ:
