Answer

There are 2 ways of adding images to your guides. Which method you use depends on whether or not you have the Add On Module.

The instructions are written out below and there is also a video showing you these methods in action below the text description.

Method 1: Using the Image Manager to Upload & Insert Images

Screen shot of Image Manager

  1. Create a new content box, if necessary.
  2. Click the add (or edit) text link in the box to open the Rich Text Editor.
  3. Click on the tree icon (Tree icon in rich text editor.) in the 2nd row of options.
  4. Click on the red Click to upload an image…link.
    • Uploading an Image: Click Browse and find the image on your computer.
    • Add an Image: click on the image from your personal image library (bottom of box).
  5. The URL is automatically added on the Insert Image screen. You can now add any of the optional information:
    • Alt Tag: This is alt text used for screen readers.
    • Alignment: Position with respect to surrounding elements.
    • Dimensions: Height x Width in pixels
    • Border: Border in pixels
    • Vertical Space: Top and bottom padding
    • Horizontal Space: Right and left padding

Method 2: Using the Image URL to Insert Images

  1. Create a new content box, if necessary.
  2. Click the add (or edit) text link in the box to open the Rich Text Editor.
  3. Click on the tree icon (Tree icon in rich text editor.) in the 2nd row of options.
  4. Screen shot of Insert/edit Image box.Add the Image URL from your server or photo sharing site to the Image URL box.
NOTE: You must upload the image to a web server before you can add it to your guide. This might be a server at your institution, or one of many photo sharing sites such as flickr, Picasa, Photobucket, etc.
    Using flickr? Use these instructions.
    Using Picasa? Use these instructions.
  5. Add any of the other optional information:
    • Alt Tag: This is alt text used for screen readers.
    • Alignment: Position with respect to surrounding elements.
    • Dimensions: Height x Width in pixels
    • Border: Border in pixels
