System Limits:

  1. Uploaded Files, via Documents & Files box, can be no larger than:
    • LibGuides: 5MB
    • LibGuides CMS (formerly known as CampusGuides): 10MB
  2. Each site has about 5GB of storage space for Documents & Files.
(We can be flexible on this if you need the space - just email us at
  3. File names for uploaded files can be no longer than 100 characters and should not contain any special characters. (If you receive any errors when uploading, check this and file size first. :)
  4. Rich Text boxes have a limit of 64k of data (about 65,000 characters)
  5. Each site that subscribes to the Image Manager gets 2GB of image storage space.
  6. Columns have a limit of 50 boxes each (3-column layout = 150 boxes)
  7. The E-Reserves Module comes with 5GB of storage space for files, 10MB per file.
(This is separate from the 5GB storage for Documents & Files boxes.)

    • The title field, in a Links & Lists box, has a limit of 255 characters.

  1. Hello,

Is there a way to tell how much of your storage space you have remaining? We have some lecturers who want to store some readings for students to access via our library catalogue - I think a LibGuide might be a good means to do this.

    Best regards,

  2. Hi Stephen,
There isn't currently a way to show customers this type of information via the admin area, but you can always ask us to look it up for you!
Just email us at if you need additional information.

For reference, I have only heard of someone hitting the limit once :)
